In the past couple of months there have been a lot of news around the usage of Android phones/tablets in some form to build smart embedded systems for the future and there have been a lot of tools that we see are increasingly supporting interfacing capabilities for Android.
Currently our embedded systems can communicate using two main protocols to the Android device. First being the much familiar bluetooth protocol and the next being the Android Accessory Development protocol from Google which uses the USB interface on phones/Tablets.
One of the first steps towards making things simpler from our end has been to make configurable apps for users to add android capabilities to embedded systems. With our First App we just opened the doors to have the conventional hello LED example work with the android device.This App makes it easy to connect any embedded system that communicates through a bluetooth interface to communicate.
There are a lot of requests that we would love to address and add more apps and capabilities, please feel free to send us your wishlist and we would strive to see what we could do !

LPC Xpresso is a low cost solution carrying a load of features on it. Given the fact the USB interfaces are present on chip this makes it suitable to use the LPC Xpresso to develop a whole new set of applications ranging from but not limited to CDC devices, Mouse device ..etc
One of the recent development from NXP has been the NXP USB lib which is a royalty free library that lets designers to open the gate for exciting USB applications. Presented below in this video is one such application where in the LPC Xpresso communicated to the Android operating system through the Android open accessory development protocol.
Given the fact that LPC Xpresso is able to communicate with Android and is priced very low and is a 32 bit solution opens a whole new set of design possibilities. Our Technical team is also working on getting some reference designs and hacks soon on this !
